Schmidt Family
Time flies. We hustle. Change happens. Life gets busy. We grow.
That is all true, exciting, and yet sad at the same time. If you are not purposeful with your time, it will be gone in a blink. If you don’t physically stop and tell yourself to remember this moment, it becomes just another day.
This family stands out in my mind as a family who grows together. They build moments in their busy lives to make time for one another. I’ve been blessed to see this support, structure, and love first hand. See, before I stood behind the camera I use to teach 8th grade & 5th grade (and a slew of other grades). This brother and sister team became part of my classroom family. Bri welcomed me my first year of education when I was just a long terms substitute. I think back on that class and smile. They were talkative but full of love! Ryan was stuck with me for much longer, (sorry Ry ha ha) from the 5th grade to 6th grade to 8th grade and then I showed up again Junior year. Ryan was there full of energy and excitement. What Ryan doesn’t know is he taught me an important life lesson back in 5th grade.
My mind goes right back to my fifth grade classroom. All of the 5th grade teachers standing in the hall waiting for our crew to come back from related arts. The first to turn the corner, Ryan. Ready to talk to anyone who would listen about what just happened in related arts like it was the BEST DAY EVER. I would laugh as I saw him joyfully bounding down the halls and think to myself, “I need to have Schmiddy days”. A day where you approach everything with joy, laughter, curiosity, and excitement.
Time flies. If you are able to slow it down and capture the moments you are blessed. Focus on what matters and make quality time for those in your life. This family loves game nights, traveling, and supporting each other in their work. This session was actually a gift for mom. What an amazing gift?! The kids are graduating and growing and yet they not only gave the gift of freezing time but an afternoon spent together…in laughter! Best. Gift. EVER!
Let’s all take a lesson from this fun family and cherish the moments. The spontaneous moments, the day to day moments, and the purposeful moments. Let us all have more Schmiddy Days!
Thank you for not only a fun evening but for all the memories in the classroom too! It is a true pleasure!
