A Trip to the Aquarium

“Melis. But for real. Look.”

At this point in the “us” blogs we were dating for some time. Don’t ask me dates or for how long because I don’t know.

We filled our days working together. I shared my dream of doing a cross country trip, living in a van and job hopping. Ruger met and got along with Cramer. We met and went on family vacations together. (Maybe how I met his mother is a story for another day.). We created many “everyday adventures” along the way.

A hike that turned interesting.

Alabama football game.

An actual baseball game.

Many woods rides.

Ice cream always the night before the first day of school.

Peanut butter. (side note: I love opening NEW peanut butter, I cannot be alone on this…right?)

And many other small things along the way that all add up.

There was one item though that we didn’t cross off our post it note by this point.

A trip to the aquarium.

It was the first thing we put on the post it note. Well the first thing our friend put on the post it note for us. If you don’t know what I am talking about you can read all about the post it note here and start your own!

I drove to his house for breakfast and coffee. As we were sitting on the porch I noticed something unusual.

I snuck a picture and sent it to my college roommate.

She confirmed my thought and I debated cancelling our trip to the aquarium.

Back and forth texts began as she reminded me a few things and talked through my fears.

We left for the aquarium which was about an hour away. I didn’t feel like talking because I had the same thought run through my head. He was just rolling with it and knows that sometimes I just don’t feel like carrying on a conversations. (right…sometimes you don’t need to fill the time with talking, ha ha.)

We arrived at the aquarium and I have no idea what we even saw.

I think there were some hippos. Some sharks. And some colorful fish.

In a matter of moments the trip was over. It was the quickest aquarium visit I ever went on. ever.

We headed out back into the chilly spring air to walk to the waterfront. Because that is cooler than the aquarium…

As we sat and talk. Cramer mentioned how the aquarium was the last thing on our list. I promptly told him that was the quickest visit I ever took and did it really count? He then pulled out a new pack on post it notes and written on the top was a new list.

“say yes”
”say I do”
”forever”

Can you guess what I said?

“okay.”

Yeah. That was it. “Okay.”

I texted my roommate. “well. we were right. It was a ring box in his pocket.”

“and….”

“and…we are headed to dinner….”

“really.”

“can you make it up here for the wedding?”

I then shut my phone off and we went to dinner. Can you guess where? An elaborate celebration on the waterfront….a private picnic in the park….

…we left our phones in the car and walked into Pancheros for a yummy meal before heading back to his parents for dessert with our families.
